Maria Carbonell Blues Mood, recently awarded “Best Emerging Blues Band in Spain” last November in Barcelona and finalists of the Volottea Blues Challenge 2025 held within the Bilbao Blues Festival, is one of the most representative and promising bands in today’s Blues and R’n’B scene.

Led by its vocalist Maria Carbonell —one of the most remarkable figures to emerge in the last decade— the group stands out for her unique style, full of nuance, originality and echoes from another era. Her voice has been described as “a voice to die for.”

With a band of four renowned musicians from the blues world, they offer a show that pays tribute to the great female singers of African American music. Their format evokes the New Orleans Rhythm & Blues combos of the 1940s and late 1950s, where honkers and pianists played a key role in shaping the genre and laying the foundations of rock and roll.
