Self-taught and magnetic, Brother Yusef has spent over thirty years crafting his own sound: Fattback Blues, a powerful blend of Delta, Chicago, and Texas blues driven by the rhythmic stomp of Louisiana. His guitar becomes a rhythm section and lead instrument all at once — his thumb lays down the groove while his fingers carve fiery melodies.

Born in Bakersfield, California, and raised amid the electrifying sound of Holiness church services and the urban soul of Los Angeles, his music embodies spirituality, resilience, and freedom.

On stage, Brother Yusef doesn’t just play — he testifies. His deep-pocket fingerpicking and blazing slide guitar turn every performance into a visceral experience, whether on a festival stage or a street corner.

Listening to him is to feel the blues alive — powerful, honest, and overflowing with life.
